S Range Austrian Generals NS 5s and Command stands

These are the rebased Generals and command elements for my new old Austrian Army mentioned in the previous post.

Because I only wanted infantry in helmets I moved on the battalions in shakos, acquired an additional fusilier battalion in helmets, and kept the other helmeted battalions, the grenadiers and jagers. All are German battalions (with white trousers) instead of the Hungarians (in blue). Any further additions will be painted as Hungarians. The army is extremely well provided with cavalry though mainly lights - one regiment of cuirassiers, then chevaulegers, hussars and lancers aplenty. I have also acquired in the last week or so another NS 5s Austrian General which is in the process of being painted up.

What I don't have is any S Range Austrian artillery so if anyone has any for which they have no further use I would be grateful to hear from you.

Over the Christmas holiday I took the whole army off their old card bases and put them onto 2mm mdf, painted Vallejo Intermediate Green, as for these figures. I am waiting for a day or two of decent weather to plastidip spray the bases. I also have some rather nice Adolfo Ramos flags for these (for use with S Range get the 20mm ones rather than the 25mm as they are a bit too big).

When I have got the bases sprayed I will try to take some unit and army photos.

I am also working on standard bearers for my S Range French in Egypt, again using the Adolfo Ramos versions of the striking flags carried by the demi brigades in this conflict.

Army Commander - for Georland this will be the famous General Mercury. I am still thinking what to do His Imperial Majesty - possibly the same figure with a fancier paint job, and a larger oval base including escort and ADC.

Looking for all the world like someone who has gone off like Achilles to sulk in his tent only to finf like Sherlock Holmes that someone has nicked his tent, this characterful seated Napoleon lurks in catalogues and lists under "Staff Figures -all periods mounted" which is why it can be hard to find there.

Mystery SYW cavalry figures

Thanks to Tony of Prometheus in Aspic, who sent these figures, which had been soldiering on as a Spanish Napoleonic Dragoon Regiment.

Following earlier posts, here and following, I am not much the wiser about identifying the Seven Years War cavalry figures. It seems most likely that these are SYW , and there are two types, distinguished mainly by their saddles.

The personality figure seems most likely to be SYWS 1, Seven Years War general. The second type (photos 3 & 4) have a particularly long saddle cloth, although the effect of this is exaggerated by the lower part of their holsters being painted in the same colours as their horses. As ever, if anyone has any definitive information on these figures, please could you leave a comment.

They never made Lasalle...

Thanks to Jeff for sending me this figure. The painter seems to have deceided the nearest figure to Lasalle was Murat (but see comment below). However, the FNCX codes are for the later (current)range, and have the horse furniture attached to the horse. The S Range personalities were coded NS - Murat was NS 9 - and no Lasalle is listed. When I have a chance I will post a comparison picture of this S Range Murat with the Minifigs 20mm/Alberken one.

Bit of a mystery - General Hautpoul

This is a bit of a mysetry. By comparison with the later Minifigs range, this Cuirassier General is Hautpoul, but I have not found any S range listing including this figure. Comments welcome!

NS figures - identification help required

These three figures are all likely to be from the Napoleonic Staff range. They all appear to be French Marshals, but which is which? Candidates are Murat (10s), Ney (9s), or generic marshal (2s). It is just possible that they have been mispainted and that one, say, could be the Austrian General (5s), though the plumes all look like French Marshals' to me.

Napoleonic Staff Figures and Personalities

A number of Napoleonic staff and personality figures were produced as part of the S Range. These included generic generals, marshals and ADCs, and personality figures. There were two figures on foot (a French Marshal passing orders, and an ADC). All others were mounted.
