Franco Prussian War German Command

Prussian Generals

German Standard Bearers - Prussian and Bavarians

I still need to source flags. These figures are again conversions available from John Cunningham.

Franco Prussian War German Infantry

Prussian Line Infantry

Silesian Riflemen

Bavarian Infantry

Saxon Infantry (apologies for the blurred photographs)

Wurttemberg Infantry

Franco Prussian War German Artillery

Artillery pieces are by B&B and RAFM. The B&B Krupp gins have split trails, which I don't think are accurate, but I haven't been able to confirm this.

I acquired an Ebay lot of about 25 Wurttemberg gunners hence the over representation of their artillery arm - the first two rows of guns (and first four rows of gunners) in the picture above. In fact the Wurttembergers were the only German in the FPW range.

Prussian and Bavarian gun crews (Bavarians the middle of the three crews). These figures are conversions now available from John Cunningham. Most of the guns in this photo are RAFM. They have single trail carriages but the moulds are obviously well past their prime, with parts missing.

PFP 10s and 11s: Wutemberg artillerymen, firing gun and carrying shells

It seems a strange choice just to have two gunners in the Prussian range and for them both to be Wurtembergers. These again need rebasing. The figures cam,e with british Napoleonic field pieces so I need to replace those. I have also pictured them with the guns removed to provide a better view of the figures.

I do have some RAFM Krupp guns but I'm not sure what would be a good solution for these guys.

These have been hanging around....

Two units which have been waiting part done for around six months while over things have jumped them in the queue - PFP 3s Saxon Line Infantry plus another PFP 5s Prussian Line Infantry. This finishes my current Franco Prussian War figures, with the exception of eight or so generals and staff figures.

I am hoping these will form part of the forces for a refight of some of the Georland battles, now I have acquired both some of the old TSS 122 hex tiles and a 6" hex mat from Corsec Engineering.

(George Keef's original Georland armies used 40mm demi ronde Franco Prussian War figures. If I was able to start from scratch I think I woould have gone for Spencer Smith 30mm Classic FPW figures as it is i am intending to use S Range Crimean and FPW figures, with a few ACW reinforcements - Zouaves and Marines).

Unit pictures - Franco Prussian War

Three units of S range Franco Prussian War figures.

First up, a pleasingly traditional Humbrol enamels paint job on these French infantry.

Second, a Prussian infantry battalion.

Fimally, a Wurttemburg infantry battalion. I was very puzzled by these figures in their unpainted state as at first I thought they were a variety of French infantry - perhaps the Chasseurs - but I knew the Chasseur was very different, with long tunic, tall shako and baggy trousers - and I couldn't find anything else they could be in the lsiting, until the penny dropped. I think I had bought them as Wurttemburgers, but put them aside and completely forgot when I got round to painting them.
