ACW Unit - ACW 6s Marine on guard

These are a recent ebay purchase which arrived painted as two separtae Confederate militia battalions. They are retored to their propoer colours as a large battalion of US Marines - the officers are French Crimean ones. I hope this unit will also find a role (possibly split into two battalions) with the Georland forces.

These have been hanging around....

Two units which have been waiting part done for around six months while over things have jumped them in the queue - PFP 3s Saxon Line Infantry plus another PFP 5s Prussian Line Infantry. This finishes my current Franco Prussian War figures, with the exception of eight or so generals and staff figures.

I am hoping these will form part of the forces for a refight of some of the Georland battles, now I have acquired both some of the old TSS 122 hex tiles and a 6" hex mat from Corsec Engineering.

(George Keef's original Georland armies used 40mm demi ronde Franco Prussian War figures. If I was able to start from scratch I think I woould have gone for Spencer Smith 30mm Classic FPW figures as it is i am intending to use S Range Crimean and FPW figures, with a few ACW reinforcements - Zouaves and Marines).

Hundred Years War Range

Minifigs produced a number of S Range medieval ranges. The Hunderd Years war range comprised thirteen foot and three mounted figures. There were also sub ranges for the Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt periods which between them added a further eighteen fooy and twelve mounted figures. The original catalogues I have only list the main Hundered Years War range so the other listings are taken from Vintage 20mil.

HYW 1s Dismounted knight attacking

HYW 2s Dismounted knight defending

HYW 3s English longbowman

This figure can be distinguished from the Crecy longbowman (HYC 6) as the latter has mail and a moustache.

HYW 4s Halberdier

HYW 5s Genoese crossbowman

Hiundred Years War Crecy Period 1300-1350

In addition to the main hHunderd Years War range there were three sub ranges, relating to specific periods during the war and relating to the three great battles of Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt. I presume this was so you could tailor your armies to narrower periods, better representing changes in weapons and armour, while also being able to draw on suitable figures from the main Hundred Years War range. The listings for these three sub ranges given here are taken from Vintage 20mil - I don't have any original catalogues with them listed. The first of these three sub ranges covered crecy and comprised 6 foot and 4 mounted figures.
