Film 68 - Review of the film "Charge of the Light Brigade", from Miniature Warfare
Miniature Warfare often ran articles and published press photos from feature films with a military theme. Here is their review of Tony Richardson's Charge of the Light Brigade, which came out around the same time as Miniature Figurines' S Range Crimean figures. In his review of the range in Wargamer's Newsletter, Don Featherstone speculated on the stimulus the film had given to figure manufacturers. His review and verdict on designer Dick Higgs' painted figures - " as colourful and stimulating as any wargames figures I can recall seeing" - is is presented in a post below.
"Figures received" from Miniature Warfare October 1968
These pictures are taken from Miniature Warfare magazine. The illustrations I have used for Crimean cavalry elsewhere on this site are of two piece figures. S Range started out with one piece figures, so I am assuming the two piece figures were later replacements for those shown here (Lancer and Chasseur d'Afrique), unless anyone knows better... The other pictures are (L-R) Russian infantry in helmet and cap, French Guard and Line infantry, Sardinian (I think) and British infantry in forage cap.
